One More Thing Off The List!

My last few days at work have been filled with lists of chores to get done before my departure to Texas next week. Getting a classroom ready for your week long absence is no easy task. There are long letters to write to the sub, activities to be created and then photocopied, lists to make, and then check twice. At the bottom of my to-do list this week has been "clean desk", which not only meant to pick up the clutter, but to also literally wipe the dust that has been collecting in its corners. A friend of mine at work has been joking with me that I will never get to that item on the list. Well, today after all of my homeroom left to enjoy their afternoon, I removed everything from my desk, wiped it down, and then only put the necessary items back on it. Thought I better take a picture of it so that I can always remember what a clean desk looks like.

Columbus Day To-Do List

For me Columbus Day has traditionally been a day to "get things done around the house". Today, since My Mom and the Music Man were both at my house, the to-do list seemed longer than in years bast.

  • Take in the dock
  • Put the canoe away
  • Put the Sunfish away for the season
  • Put plastic shrink-wrap on the windows
  • Put plastic on the back doors
  • Clean the cat box
  • Make apple sauce
  • Make yogurt
Amazingly, the to-do list got completely done! Just another overachieving successful day in the world of SJ.

Done! Check!

So, if you know me at all I live by to-do lists. I even have a nifty little program on my mac called check off which allows me to make electronic to-do lists and check them off as I finish them. I like this little program so much that many of my students are now using it.

Well, one of the biggest most hugest to do items just got checked off my to-do list, my graduate portfolio! (Insert large scream for joy and jumping up and down here). Yup, it is official, I am done with my graduate degree. Now all I have to do is put the CD of my portfolio in the mail tomorrow. Oh, and then apply for the PhD program, maybe I will become a professional student.

Today truly has been a successful day!

Check!

So, if you know me at all, you know that I always have multiple to-do lists. I get a small thrill out of checking things off from it. I even have a wonderful little program on my Mac called check off that allows me to make lists of things to do. Lately though I have not been so good with my to-do lists and things are getting forgotten. Maybe it is time for a new system. Anyone out there have any other great little programs for making to-do lists that I could try?
