Three Cups Of Tea

I finished reading Three Cups of Tea a few weeks ago. Everyone is raving about, most of my friends have it listed on their Good Reads list and commented that they loved it. I thought that the story was impressive, but maybe it is because I read it all at once on a flight, I seem to be not as impressed by it as everyone else. There is also a young readers edition out now that may be a great book to add to a school curriculum. Here is how Barnes and Noble summed it up.

On the afternoon of September 2, 1993, Greg Mortenson realized that he had failed in his attempt to climb K2, the world's second-highest mountain. But disappointment was the least of his problems. Emaciated, exhausted, thoroughly disoriented, and suffering from edema, his grip on life was loosening. He was taken in and nursed back to health by the impoverished populace of a remote Pakistani village. Grateful, he promised to return someday to build them a school. Three Cups of Tea is the story of that promise and the story of how one man changed the world, one school at a time.

Maine or Bust!

After over twelve hours of traveling I pulled into the driveway. It was a long and exhausting week of learning how to be a successful doctoral student. After countless sessions on writing, resource searching, writing, technology tips, writing, and question asking I think I have a handle on what I need to do next. Did I mention writing tips?

The trip home was uneventful, made a little iMovie of Kermit's travels, read a few articles, and read more of Three Cups of Tea. Oh, and I somehow lost/left behind my coat. Yup, you heard it right, moments before my flight out of Dallas departs after spending a few hours in the airport killing time I remember that I left my coat on the chair in the food court. I sprint back to get it, and you guessed it - it was gone. When I arrived at the Portland Jetport, and walked outside on the tarmack (it was one of those tiny planes too small to connect to the terminal), I was freezing. That's what I get for being a little absent minded.
